In Melaque, we found a great spot to camp- a little on the pricey side but we had our own shower and bathroom. I spent hours in the 10 foot Sandy Beach style shorebreak, impressing the locals with my bodysurfing talents. (Preston may tell you that I only went in once for about 5 minutes and was scared shitless) Believe what you will- I think we all know the truth(Joe).

We stayed in Melaque for 3 days relaxing on the beach(Preston bodysurfing with the local kooks), playing games and drinking cervezas with a local family and attempted to do some surfboard repair. We met ol Prophet Dan(Jesus' little bro) Bet you never read the part of the bible that says Jesus had a brother named Dan who was half alien??? How do we meet these people. Ol Prophet Dan was walking to Brazil(not a centavo to his name) to work in the King James Bible factory???? KOOK.

We headed out of Melaque hot as hell and ready to get back to the mountains. The drive down the Michoacan coast nearly changed our minds. One unbelievably gorgeous beach after another. And other than a couple one burro towns, the beaches were entirely deserted. We ended up at Barra de Nexpa for the night. It was an incredible beach littered with surf cabanas and a couple restaurants. There was a giant swell rolling in which made for some good entertainment as we munched on enchiladas and beers. All of the surfers getting out of the water were surprisingly old? It was almost like we stumbled upon some secret spot -the waves were perfect and the rides were long and there were only 5 guys in the water. Crazy.

Rain woke us up REALLY early the next morning. Everything was soaked and sandy which may have had something to do with the frequent bickering accompanied by long periods of silence during the next 390km to Uruapan.
