Where I stayed
the night in Innsbruck was quite a revelation .. staying in a town which is mainly medieval village style and then negotiating the streets in the car was a bit of a challenge.... all good... more great Austrian food and then time to visit the Swaovski display... not sure what to expect but a very interesting hour or so visiting an art museum ... some incredible crystal object but then into a HUGE Sarwaoski crystal shop!!! .. had to leave before mastercard and visa blew up !!
then hit the road for the longest road trip from innsbruck to interlarken (Grindelwald)... Geoff is the driver and Michael and Shirley (the sat nav girl) arenavigating... well done.. except for shirley taking a few unexplained detors off the highway we ent through Austria without a hitch and then found our way (just off the main highway) to leichtenshtein... very small country..
Then into Switzerland and the Swiss Alps... Lots of oooos and ahhhhs as the scenery is breath-taking... more mountains .. more crystal lakes .. unbelievable... then we arrived at grindelwald.. about 6.5 hours travel all up including a few stops for coffeee/tea/ piddle and smokes.... great driving by Geoff... lots of winding roads and well done to Michael with the navigatiing - although he couldn't have done it without shirley.
last night we had a big feed again and then walked around the little village for a while.. we have good motel incentre of village with graet views of the Eiger...
was spectacular.. a train trip to the TOP OF EUROPE.. Jungfraughjoch... went 3.5km above sea level.. walked through a glacier... yes through... and played in the snow... Mick's first experiebnce with snow.. so a real treat... we are doing very well for a group of people who ( apart from Mick - who has no fear) are not keen on hights or tunnels... we are all managing to "have a go" and enjoy it al...back in town now and tired from tthe big day... expect another one tomorrow...
love to all
Geoff, Sue Mick and Mary.
