La Senda Verde Animal Sanctuary

James was confident, I was really scared! I just kept thinking "there's an animal sanctuary at the end of this".

We went with Gravity, ominous name but highly regarded and rightly so. There are some real horror stories about some of the companies, including fake disc brakes! Our bikes (mine was called Marge) were Kona’s and fully suspension-ed with really great brakes but really uncomfortable saddles. No matter, you had to keep your bum off the saddles as this ride was 5 hours of baby-heads (that’s big stones to you and me), and some seriously rough road. The views however were amazing, almost unreal. I really worried about the edge for about 30 minutes, but then we were having so much fun it wasn’t a real worry, especially cycling under waterfalls and through rivers. Obviously James left me for dust but I went fast enough (still safely though Mum!) to get the adrenaline pumping.

At the end of the ride, myself and two other very brave ladies (no boys I hasten to mention!) decided to do the triple flying fox. The speed was up to 85 km/hour, traversing an enormous valley. The people running this are so professional, we all had a really amazing experience – that was until I mentioned the opening scene from Cliffhanger – gulp!
