Where I stayed
San Filipe Hotel
We took a day bus (very good service this time) the next morning to Oruro, carnival capital of Bolivia, and stayed in a 5star hotel (as a treat) which cost £30 for the room plus a good breakfast. It had a television with BBC Pride & Prejudice playing back-to-back episodes.
We had a very unsatisfactory meal in the evening but the place is nice enough, crazy busy about 3 days earlier though.
Two funny phrases from this leg of the journey: Firstly, when I had to pee during a bus break, practically in the open, I kept reciting "I'm a llama, I’m a llama!" and secondly from James on arriving in Oruro fully loaded with travel bags “put the guidebook away, we don’t want to look too obvious!”
The next day another day bus to La Paz, a mere 3 hours away.
