Here's a guest blog entry from my mom!!  She arrived today, and we kept her awake all day by go-go-going!!  Some of the sites in downtown Zurich kept falling off of our to do list, but today we made it to a few of them.  Here's what she has to say:

 Hello from Zurich!

Wow,  It has been a great trip over here so far!  I got to Atlanta and

there was a two hour layover, had some yummy chicken soup, and got onboard a

Delta Boeing with close to 300 people onboard to Zurich.   It was a long trip, 9 and

A half hours over the Atlantic, no turbulence, three movies, and very tight seats.

Angie and the girls met me at the Zurich Baggage check, and it was so exciting to see them!

We got in their little VW Minivan, and they drove me to their beautiful home away from

Home.  Nestled in the mountainside, this lovely house is like a mansion, IKEA style.

Overlooking Zurich, it is about a five minute drive to the downtown area.  Angie made

Pancakes and bacon, and I showered and changed clothes, and they took me into downtown Zurich

to show me around.  We drove around the city, parked and went on the Polybahn, an up and downhill

bright red trolley, walked up into the GrossMunster Church; the tallest church tower overlooking Lake

Zurich.  Spectacular!! Over 280 steps (spiral and wooden) to the top.  We went to an Octoberfest, and

then back to Angela's home to make dinner for Brian and the fam.  Dining out wasn’t an option, and

Angela made a great dinner of sausages, potatoes, peppers and Raclette cheese melted.  Mmm,

We had a scare with Kayley, who was whittling with a Swiss army knife, and accidently cut her thumb.

We thought that she may need stitches, but got bandaged and antiseptic, and learned a good lesson

bout the Swiss knives- they are very sharp!  Don’t mess with the Swiss!   Love it here, very wonderful to

see Kayley, Serena, Alex and Ang and Brian so happy!  This is very beautiful, and the view is amazing at

night overlooking Zurich lights!  Amanda, they have no dryer, no one does, and they hang things on lines!  Yikes, this is so old fashioned!  Well, tomorrow we are going to northern France.

Aufweidersein!  Love, Pano

sounds great - except for the thumb carving. have a great visit and all our best to the smith clan! all here is good. zach's soccer team is undefeated at 8-0 and he is the starting goalie with 3 shutout wins. Still playing lacrosse year round too with a tournament in 2 weeks. Anna is playing for Activate the Cure tonight and just got a gig to play at the Blind Pig Nov 2 which should have a crowd of 350 people! Mary is doing well, keeping busy with a myriad of projects. My new novel The Consequence of Skating came out earlier this month and got a starred review in Booklit so that was cool. Onward. Enjoy. Best Steve

It sounds great! I like the pictures a lot. Last week we finished the reading MEAP. It was sort of easy. Is the cheese good? I think Elena misses you. We just started spelling/cursive/projects. I finished two day.
Bye.

Hey Serena. You haven't really missed anything exciting. Spanish is in the classroom. We have recess before lunch this year. The writing MEAP is no harder than any other MEAP. To bad you missed school pictures though. We just started letter home and projects. We have tubs instead of cubbies. That is mostly it. Someone else will tell you the rest.
