Hello again

Its been a good few weeks since i last put an entry on here a combination of Really out of the way places and sheer bone idlness have caused me to neglect the blog a little so i will do my best and try and bring it upto date.

My last entry was when we were leaving bali with the intention of heading towards East Timor so we could extend our Visa and do an overland trip back towards Bali Stopping off at some pretty remote and far flung places like west Timor,Flores and hopefully Komodo Island to see the famous dragons.

We managed to get a plane direct to Kupang really cheap so we managed to Skip the proposed 20 odd hour bus ride. Arrival at Kupang was no problems at all, the old style prop plane managed to get us both there in one piece although Mike kept looking under his seat trying to find the parahcute.

West Timor looked absoulutley parched there was hardly a blade of grass or a leaf on the spindly trees we managed to pick the extreame end of the dry season so the yellow and black pack a mack that cookie brought with him was stuffed back to the bottem of his bag along side the panama hat and his fiesta mags.

To say the place looked dead would be an understatment this place was seriously short of tourists of anykind. There was no shortage of Hotel rooms so we checked into a place called the maliana which served us with High Tea no less and Mike dusted off that Panama hat at the very mention of Scones and clotted cream. It was not long before he was casting his mind back to Capatin Bligh which of course led him to his illustrious name sake captain J.T. With his explorers head on he led me into town to find what the lonely planet describes as the best bar in the city.

We found it and before long we found ourselves drinking cold beer overlooking a rather shabby beach in the La valaon (not the lavalon we were told by the owner he explained that the latter spelling sounded far to french and not people like the french do they he asked)

Dont Get me started about that bunch Mike said after he had consumed his 3rd large beer. "The Germans" he shouts "thats a race you can depend on, never mind all the leather pants and arse slapping nonsense, when you get down to it Ill take a german anytime".

We spend this evening chatting with the very occasional backpacker mainly ozzies heading to Rote island for surfing and late on we try and source a place to eat. (A word of warning the locals here eat Dog so keep an eye out for what you are chomping on) we kept our eyes peeled and hopefully no pooch past my lips.

After A few days we found ourselves pretty bored here so we booked our bus ride to dilli in east Timor where we hoped to get a 60 day Visa for Indonesia.
