Today was hot. Tomorrow will be hotter. The heat index for tomorrow is 110, which is probably safe for all day exercise. Growing up in Ohio, I am familiar with "Wind Chill", but it's ugly twin "Heat Index" is a new beast I must learn to conquer. At least wind chill can be disarmed with the right clothing... I haven't found a solution for heat index. We're riding in the finger lakes region now; maybe I should just take a quick dip in every lake we pass.
And since you were wondering, yes, it is gorgeous up here. We decided today, looking out at Canandaigua Lake, that New York is the prettiest state all things considered. Other states might have certain aspects that are more beautiful, but New York has the most diversity and it does a great job in all areas considered.
Tonight I ordered a two for twenty meal at Applebee's and ate both meals. I also at the included appetizer. It may have been the most food I've ever consumed in one sitting. I had a full size appetizer plate of spicy chicken wings (maybe a dozen), a steak, baked potato, steamed vegetables, and a full size oriental chicken salad meal. It is a little disgusting to admit this, but I'm proud of myself. It's not every day I get the opportunity to eat like this.
Speaking of eating terribly, I had the best burger of the trip for lunch. We stopped in Avon at Tom Wahl's and it is safe to say that my burger absolutely put In-N-Out to shame. California kids won't stop talking about In-N-Out burgers; Tom Wahl's was voted the best burger joint in the state of New York by USA Today last year. If the California kids stepped out of their mass produced burger shells and tried what New York had to offer I'm not sure they could even look at their beloved burgers the same.
