My mom here is a nurse, and she spent all of last week at an eye care clinic with a medical team visiting from the States. Each day they were performing cataract surgery for free to at least a dozen locals, and on Tuesday, I was invited to come hang out and take pictures.
I had a blast taking pictures, it reminded me of the time Luke's mom invited me to take pictures of her new syringes at Riverside (except this time I didn't get paid :-) There were tons of old Mexican people, and at first it was a little bit awkward pointing my rather large and intimidating lens at their faces, but I kept reminding myself that they had cataracts, and could barely see how massively goofy looking my camera is...
anyways, a few of those pictures are here, including a decently detailed shot of the surgery, so be warned... The people I met there were wonderful, including a pastor from Hawaii, a nurse from Cali, and a missionary coordinator from Alaska who is actually living down here in Oaxaca. I'm incredibly shy, but I love meeting new people... especially interesting new people.
speaking of interesting, we locked the keys in the car... but Dave (my mexico dad) drove out from the school, and saved us.
By the end of the day, I was a cataract expert... and I've got an album full of cool pictures to boot... so boo-ya-ka-sha!

Are you kidding
As your 'real Mom' I can't believe you watched much less took pictures! Life away really has changed you, you would never even let me put eye drops in your eyes. Maybe medicine is in your future? Love you and see you in 10 days.
