Where to start?

I met so many amazing people at GA this week, from so many amazing places. It was honestly one of the most amazing experiences of my life. Experiencing God with people from over 70 countries around the world is an experience unlike any other. The speakers were killer. Robert Gelinas and Ajith Fernando had some of the most excellent, divinely inspired messages I have ever heard. The main worship team, from Cape Town YFC, was incredible; some of the best worship I have ever been a part of, easily rivialing the talent and energy of HSLT Worship.

The opening night was absolutely incredible. There was so much energy in the tent, you could feel it deep in your core. There were all kinds of african dancers performing, a great message, and a fantastic opening worship set.

The best part about the week was meeting all the people from all over the world. Here's just a few standout people who came to mind, and a little bit about them.

"Scuba Steve" Schultheis - YFC Sacramento Media Director - GA Video Director
Jonathan Fast - YFC USA tech guy (Denver) - GA Media Master
Byron and Linda Emmert - YFC Alumni Director (Minneapolis) - GA Production Manager - Adoptive parents for the week.
Carol Kioko - Video and Media student from Kenya - GA Camera 3
Sumi Flanaghan - Operations and Logistics Manager (she graduated from Worthington Christian... small world)
Brandon, Amy, Lisa, Renee, Pieter - Office team from Denver, Washington, and Australia
Ozzy, Denzel, Keith - Outgoing Volunteers from South Africa
Don - YFC Lebanon director - from Armenia originally
Ray and Jim - Arabain Young Leaders from Abu Dhabi in the UAE - roommates

And that's just the tip of the iceberg... I couldn't possibly list everyone I met.

Note: It is impossible to go to a christian event ANYWHERE in the world and not run into someone from Taylor University. The couple running a school in Rwanda sitting behind me on the bus, the YFC USA director, the YFCInternational Board Chair, and the GA accountant guy all graduated from Taylor. Even the lead singer for the worship band, a teen who's never been to the states, was proudly wearing a TU Trojan's T-Shirt.

The weather was gorgeous and the landscape was stunning. I got to take a hike up to the top of a mountian and look around, and let me tell you... It was AWESOME! I got a new favorite candy bar - Nestlé Bar-One. Imagine a 3 Musketeers bar with a line of carmel inside, like a Milky Way. YUM!

I finished the book I was reading on the plane ride back, In a pit with a lion on a snowy day... Really really interesting book.

So instead of loading a billion pictures, which would take forever, I have two videos for you all. The first is the GA Highlight Video (put together by Mark Holland from Canada). It's great for getting a feel for the mood, the diversity, the excitement, the energy, and the passion of the event. You can also use it to check out my lighting skills (I ran every light in the tent... over 70 lights... ooh, and I also controlled the smoke machine :-). The second video is a slideshow I put together from pictures I took. I did it at 4 AM on the plane ride home, so no complaining if it has mistakes.

I hope you enjoy the videos. I know the post is scatterbrained, slightly boring, and exteremely hard to follow, but I really don't know how to put into words the experience I just had. SO INCREDIBLE. Skype me or email me if you wanna hear more.

Stephen
