We walked to town (pleasant 10'walk), headed for the bus station and took a public bus to Crane Beach on the east side of the island. The only problem was a 60 minutes wait, but otherwise it was a true local experience, especially our way back in a school-sized bus with more than 40 people inside. And the beach was gorgeous. Thanks to Cindy&Mike from Brooklyn, we found it, because it's really secluded. You can chose between the one on the south with umbrellas, chairs ($5 each) and bar service and no more than 30 people, or the more secluded on the north with the same size but with nothing and nobody.
