We took a long dusty, bumpy, dirt road about 1/2 the distance to Park City. You might gather from my description that I wasn't keen on it, but Steve enjoyed it. I'll admit, it was scenic and the remoteness was nice... but everything inside and outside Rover had a fine layer of dust on it, including us.

It was fun to see Steve with his brother Ron, from what I hear, they get along better now than when they were kids (Steve was a tyrant of an older brother). Hard to imagine. I've heard stories of Ron getting revenge by taking him for grueling bike rides and hikes when he visits... I was a little afraid that I'd be included in that payback, but they were kind and took us for beautiful hikes almost everyday, the weather was perfect.

Many of the hikes were on ski slopes, it never occurred to me while I was downhill skiing that the runs would make great hiking trails. Seeing the ski run signs with the green circles, blue squares and black diamonds really made me want to go downhill skiing. The trail near their house was a ski park in the 1920's & 30's, we found parts of an old lift there.

We watched the whole family do a biathlon race (Ron, Lisa, Drew and Sydney) - first a run, then a bike ride through the hills. Very impressive, there's no way I could have kept up. We also got a tour of the firehouse where Ron works.

We rented a movie and one of their kitties slept on my lap, it felt like a cozy night at home. We visited Lisa's sister and the adorable kittens she's fostering - melt my heart.

We did a little more work on rover (always something to do) and discovered a split in the seam of the new tent! We think the fabric was too tight around the support bars, although there didn't seem any way around making it tight. It's only a couple inches, but the disappointment was great because it's brand new. Duct tape to the rescue, I hope it holds for the whole trip.

Ron showed me how to rock climb, that was a thrill. Steve took lots of pictures and videos - I wanted proof.
