Today, our 5 and grandma took a day trip an hour south down the coast to a town called Uvita.

On the way there we stopped at a fruit stand outside of Dominical, the same one we stopped at last year.  We only saw one coatimundi, compared to a whole pack of them last year.  The kids were still happy to see and hand-feed the cute little guy.

We went to a beach called Playa Ballena where there is a natural phenomenon.  At low tide, a huge coral reef and sand bar are exposed that will let you walk out and explore the tide pools.  On the walk out to the point, we saw more crabs than I {^me [i.e. Stace] too^} have ever seen in my whole life, and they weren't there last year.  This particular beach also makes for some great pictures because the tide comes at you from both sides.  It looks like the parting of the seas.

After a few hours of walking, swimming, and tide pools, we took Grandma to Crystal Ballena, the hotel we stayed at last year.  Here we ate lunch and swam in the pool.  Grandma LOVED the hotel, the view, and the grounds.  The kids were having the GREATEST time!  But as you know it's all fun and games 'til someone gets hurt.  They were playing on the pool handrail and Brody slipped off and whacked his cabeza on the stairs (see movie below).  He cut the back of his head open and we had to go to the hospital.  The hotel manager actually got in our car, drove us there and stayed to help us through the process.  Obviously, that would never happen in the US.  Brody got 2 stitches. They insisted on 2 x-rays.  They don't take insurance and we had to pay right then.  They didn't take credit card so we had to pay in cash.   Good thing it was only $140.  I think it would be over $1,000 in the US.

Overall, Brody was a trooper.  He was doing great until they gave him a shot in the back of the head. OUCH!  Overall, we had a great time and another adventure.  Stayed tuned...
