This weekend my friend Alex came out to visit me in California. I have known Alex since probably middle school and we have been great friends since. This past year he spent at UCONN so I haven't had a chance to see him much. We had fun catching up on stuff and checking out So Cal.

On Friday evening we explored the Malibu/Pepperdine area. Playing catch with a football on the Pepperdine track is always nice because of the cool breeze off the ocean.

Early Saturday we got up and hiked to Escondido falls. Its a 150 foot waterfall off the PCH located in the Santa Monica Mountains. Roundtrip the hike was about 5 miles so it was not too far, but surprising how quickly we seemed to leave civilization behind. We spent the rest Saturday on Zuma beach and then checked out the Santa Monica Pier and Venice Beach in the afternoon

Sunday we spent in Six Flags because Alex had never been and wanted to check it out. As always, the lines were annoying but the rides more than made up for the wait. I didn't take any pictures because I didn't want to risk losing my camera on the rides and already have some pictures from Six Flags from last weekend.

On Monday, Memorial Day, we rented surfboards and wetsuits from a little shop by the shore and spent the morning surfing. The water was a crisp 55 degrees but the wetsuits kept me warm. Surfing wasn't the easiest thing ever but I was able to stand up and ride the waves in so that was enjoyable. I'm looking forward to surfing in Costa Rica.

Overall it was a great weekend. I'm sorta getting tired of taking pictures and writing in my travel blog so I'm not sure how much I will enter in the few weeks leading up to Costa Rica, but hopefully I will keep up with it.
