Today Mark, Martin, and I decided to head to the ocean and see what we could find at Venice Beach. Its about a twenty minute drive from where I am staying in Northridge so it was easy to get there. Once we arrived we realized it was quite a bit colder than we expected: no laying in the sun for us but we still had a bunch of fun longboarding along the coast, walking the boardwalk, and looking at the shops and people in Venice.
One interesting thing I experienced today was being offered my Medical Marijuana Card. A young guy was handing out flyers so I decided to take one and see what he had to offer. He went on to explain to me that I should get my Medical Marijuana Card from a Doctor so that I could buy myself some marijuana from the local dispensaries: of course only as a remedy for my chronic pain. He described it as "you just go and tell him your symptoms so you can get your card. Everyone is approved."  haha
Once we'd had enough of Venice I thought it would be fun to drive up the PCH and check out Malibu and Pepperdine University on the way back to Northridge. Driving up the Pacific Coast Highway was wonderfully scenic as we drove with the windows down, ocean to the left, and green mountains to the right. Within about 15 minutes we went from crowded LA to fresh air and strawberries.
About thirty minutes north of Venice we found Pepperdine University nestled in the foothills overlooking the Ocean. It was an incredibly nice campus. We drove around the loop and stopped to see the track and watch the Pepperdine Wave baseball team playing USD. The baseball field is perfectly situated where the backdrop is the Pacific Ocean- check out the pictures to see. It was definitely fun to see Pepperdine's amazing campus.

Isn't the beach wonderful. Imagine if you lived close all the time. Would you still enjoy it so much. The track in Pepperdine is like the track that Summer ran at this year in Santa Barbara, right on the coast. Nice for parents so we can sit in the stands and watch track and the ocean at the same time.
