I arrived bacnk in Madrid on Sunday night after an uneventful but long 6.5 hour drive. In a way I was sad to leave the beach, who knows when in my life I will have another opportunity to spend 5 weeks on the beach! But at the same time I was definitely looking forward to being back in Madrid and civilization.

Last night we threw together an inmpromptu reunion of those who went on the Italy trip...amazingly, out of 15 people, only 4 couldn't make it! We headed down to La Latina for drinks and tapas, it was great catching up with everyone and what they have been doing. Joanne & Bob were there, and they had done 2 more programs since Italy, and they have another next week! Joanne should be getting her cast off today, which will be a relief since it is still so hot here (38C yesterday) and it is very itchy. Donal was there (he's from Ireland) and is going to be teaching English with the company, so he heads home for a week to say goodbye, and then will be back in Madrid. So there is an ever-growing Anglo contigent here in Madrid!

The way home was a bit of an adventure when I missed the last bus home! Plaza Castilla was full of action though, with a big celebration for the basketball team taking place. As well, one of the new office towers they are building right near there caught fire on the top floor, and you could see the flames all over the city. In the end I did manage to make it home safe and sound of course, or else I would not be writing this...

Of the 4 kids, one started back at school yesterday, one goes later this week, and the other 2 have one more week off. They are going out to one of their country houses in Salamanca tomorrow though, so things will be pretty quiet around the house. As the plan stands right now, I will stay with the family for 2 more weeks, then do one last program before heading back to England and then home! Yes, it's true boys and girls, I actually plan to set foot on Canadian soil this year :)
