We arrived at the hostel in Prague fairly late on Saturday night to find a raging party going on! It settled down fairly early though, so we were still able to get a decent sleep. We spent most of our time walking around, there are so many beautiful old buildings. The castle sits up on the hill looking out over the city, and the walk up to the gardens has a great view. Unfortunately the teahouse that friends have recommended was closed, but you can't do everything!
We also went out to the botanical gardens and mom compared flora and fauna to back home. I just wandered around looking at the pretty flowers! A green thumb I have not. We visited a few churches, walked across St Nicholas bridge a few times, and of course shopped! 2 girls let loose in the city, what do you expect. Actually, mom bought me a gorgeous necklace for my birthday and that was about the extent of the shopping.
We did manage to have a run-in with the police when we crossed a road that didn't have a pedestrian crossing, otherwise known as jaywalking. The police sit on the corner right by the bus station waiting for tourists to cross there. Luckily it was only a $10 fine, but obviously a good cash cow for them!
