Last night was the party, which started by making paella for dinner. Some of the Spaniards thought it was strange, because usually you would eat it for lunch, and maybe on the beach. They also thought it was funny that many of the Anglos were taking pics of the process, but for us it is not something you see every day! The pan is the size of a stove, and they made enough for 40 some people.

After we moved up to the meeting room, which had been set up with a DJ and a bar. Of course there was dancing, and much drinking, and general craziness. Things shut down around 3, so it was a bit more difficult getting up for breakfast today! We had a more low-key day, we went for a hike to an abandoned village about 3.5km away. The weather was looking pretty sketchy at first, but cleared up and the sun came out. When we got to the village, there was mobile phone reception, so all the Spaniards jumped on their phones right away! The village was very quaint, and it made us all appreciate how much work had probably gone into restoring where we are staying.

When we got back we had a BBQ lunch out on the lawn, though the food was made inside. More of a picnic I guess you would say. They seem to serve a lot of meat here, but the food has been really good (more or less!). It is different having dessert and wine at lunch, but for most people that is their main meal of the day. It means that I am drinking lots of wine this week though!
