Ellie, Karen & I went horse riding in the New Forest today. It was great fun! Things are done a little different over here, you have to wear a hat (helmet) and the saddles are quite different. I don't think I've ever worn a helmet horse riding before! You can see how it might be a good idea though. We went on a 1 hour trail ride, which since most of us hadn't ridden in quite a while (last time I went was in Costa Rica with Heidi!) was enough. It turned out to be a lovely crisp day, and as we were getting ready to go a herd of deer came and started grazing by the pond just down from us. They seemed so peaceful and content. Luckily they were still there when we got back, and I was able to take a picture.

After we went for a bit of a walk, there were horses wandering free through the forest. The picture of the two horses, one laying down, is probably one of my favourite from this trip! We were all starving by that point, so we headed for lunch. Karen had recommended this pub that served giant Yorkshire puddings the size of your plate filled with roast beef! So good. You could have all sorts of other things inside too, but I figure this is probably the only time in my life I will eat roast beef is while I am in England. So I best get my fill.

I did manage to have fish and chips here for the first time since I've been here. In all honesty, I've never been a big fan of fish and chips, so I wasn't exactly wowed. Didn't taste much different than what you can get at home. But the experience was fun! And no, they don't wrap them in newspaper anymore, just a paper bag. There is a local war over the best place to get f&c, one is Charlie's (which is where we went) and I forget the other place (probably because I have never been there). Anyway, I am being bribed to say the following: "Ben, Charlie's is the best!!". Ha ha.
