So, I am warning you, if you don't want to listen to me whine, skip this post! Over the last few days I have talked to a few people here who have been away from home for awhile, and we were all comiserating about being homesick. So, in no particular order, here are the things I miss from home: my friends & family (most important of course!), my bed, being able to go to a store and find what you need in less than 4 hours (buying tape turned into a full day journey!), the wide variety of food available, people who speak my language, chilling on the couch watching TV, my car and being able to get around really easily, clean clothes every day, and my kitties!!

The hardest part of course is the people I miss. And while I am definitely having a great time, I wish I could pack up all the people I love and bring them in my backpack. Unfortunately it is already bloody heavy! (So much for 12kgs hey Ben??). But I have met some great people along the way, including a boy who is now rearranging his travel plans to come to Nice with me tomorrow...yikes! Unfortunately he is not a hot Italian, but I guess I could make do with a hot Canadian (he's from Van Island)!

I have altered my plans a bit and decided to head over to Nice in France for a few days, before coming back and seeing Florence and Venice. I am so excited to be in a country where I speak the language, you have no idea!! Italy has been so much easier than Turkey, but still, it's not the same as having people actually understand you. I need time to practice my French before Lisa & Dave come over and I am the official interpreter!

Rome has been wonderful, possibly my favorite stop so far (big surprise). Yesterday I went through the Vatican, and today San Pietro (St. Peter's Basilica). Both were absolutely stunning, pictures of course never do justice. Most people just rush through the Vatican to get to the Sistine Chapel, and miss all the wonderful art along the way. I even managed a few pics, as there are areas that you are allowed to photograph in, but not the Sistine Chapel. Last night out tonight before I spend all day on the train to Nice tomorrow, some of the people I have met in the hostel swear they are going to drag me to a pub crawl tonight! I think they just want to laugh at an old lady getting plastered!! (Young punks). Ha ha.
