Yesterday I slept in and missed the ruins tour, so instead I headed off to the Saturday market. Blocks and blocks of fruit, veggies, clothes, shoes, hardware etc. I don't think I've ever seen that much produce in one place! I did manage to buy a dress, and some fruit. Most of the vendors were fairly relaxed, and didn't push too much. The guy I bought the dress from let me sift through everything for a half hour, with only a comment here or there (this is very rare!!). They are much more aggressive in other areas.

In the afternoon I took the bus to Sirince (pronounced similar to syringe). It's a very quaint little village in the hills about 8 km from Selcuk. They produce a lot of fruit wines there, which you can sample and purchase. I was not a big fan of the fruit wines, but it was a neat experience. All the town women set out their wares on the side of the road to sell. Many spices, pashminas etc.

Most everyone stayed in for dinner again, so there was a big crowd. Might have been due to rumours of a belly dancer...The food was fabulous once again, and just as dinner finished who should show up, but of course, a belly dancer! She gave a great show, and had everyone either up dancing or stuffing money into her bra straps. She attempted to teach some of the girls a few moves, but of course it is harder than it looks. After she finished, the music kept playing, and everyone got up to dance!

Although everyone went to bed exhausted, some were kept awake by a wedding party just down the street. This had happened the night before as well! Little did we know it is wedding season, and they happen daily right now. My 35 cent earplugs are serving me well...
