Our first stop was St. Anna's Lake, Lake Sfânta Ana, is the only crater lake in Romania and dates back almost 10,000 years. Since the lake is supplied exclusively from precipitation the amount of minerals in the water is extremely low. The purity is almost of that of distilled water. For a lot of the other students on the trip they thought this meant you could drink the water....I passed on that opportunity!

After a quick bus ride and a beautiful hike through the Carpathian woods we reached smelly cave. It was just that, a very very smelly cave full of sulfur! It was good for a quick look but the smell and lack of oxygen was a little overwhelming to be hanging out in there for too long!
