The next stop was the Salt Mines in Turda, Transylvania. Salt from this mine has been extracted since the middle ages! The place is really interesting, it's quite the large hole in the ground. Since it is no longer an active mine they've turned it into a pretty cool tourist attraction. The hole in the ground is complete with an amphitheater, a lake with boats, a bar, and even a Ferris wheel! 

Fun Fact: Salt used to be a very precious mineral, it was known as "white gold". In Latin based languages the word for salary came from salarium, basically meaning "salt money".
