We had a long weekend at school so Lucie, Jessica, and I took advantage of it and ran off for our first European excursion to Croatia!

The first part of the trip started on Thursday and was a day full of traveling. Our train left Budapest at 630am and was scheduled to arrive in the capitol of Croatia, Zagreb, about 8 hours later. Once we had arrived, we had to find where the bus station was and purchase a ticket to Pula. Luckily the station was close and we were able to walk there. After we got our bus tickets, it was 5 hours to Pula!! Once we got into Pula it was a little hard to find our Hostel without a map but we managed. The hostel was really cool, it had mosaic tile stairs and lots of art. They also had a really nice patio where we enjoyed some local Croatian wine!

Friday was my favorite day out of the weekend. We rented bikes from the hostel and the guy who ran it mapped out an all day bike route along the coast of the whole city! It was so much fun. Our first stop of the day was my favorite. It was a little hard to find but thanks to some very specific directions we found it eventually. It was a rocky beach complete with cliffs, caves, and jelly fish! We were all a little nervous to get in the water at first because of the jelly fish, but after carefully examining the water we jumped in. It was so much fun. I think I could have spent all day there jumping off the different cliffs and floating in the crystal clear, blue water. Unfortunately we had a schedule to stick to and had to move onto the next stop.

The next leg of our ride took us along a bike route that ran along the coast for the majority of the rest of the ride. It was really pretty, Croatia is a beautiful place. After making a few stops and a couple of wrong turns we made it to our last spot to watch the sunset over the sea. It was beautiful! There were sailboats all over the place and there were even some dolphins swimming out not too far from us. It was the perfect way to end the day.

On Saturday we took a trip to the town of Rovinj. It was a really cute town. Just a small place built on a hill with a church on the top. All of the streets were really cute! They were cobble stone and a lot of them were really skinny...and really slippery! The road that we walked along to the top of the hill was full of art galleries. There were some really beautiful paintings and pieces of art. After we explored the town (it only took a few hours) we headed back to Pula to hit up the beach one last time!

Sunday was another travel day. We left Pula at 415am and got to Budapest in the evening. It was a quick trip and I would LOVE to go back and have some more time to see more places in Croatia.

Enjoy the pictures!
