We decided that it would be best to break up our journey to Lilongwe so we wanted to stop in Nkhotakota Bay for a few days. We took the Axa bus from Nkhata Bay to Nkhotakota Village, about a 3 hour journey. When we arrived the only option appeared to be to take a Pickup truck to the the dirt road that lead to the Lodge. It was a little scary, but we got there ok.
When we were dropped off it was still another couple of ,iles to our final destination. We were offered rides by the bicycle taxi's to the lodge. After some negotiation we agreed. However this turned out to be a poor decision. Soon after we left on the bicycles The bycle that Isabella and I were riding on hit a bump and unfortuetly Isabella's foot swung into the bicycle wheel. Luckily the bike stopped immeadiatly. The foot initally looked really bad, and it was quite scary.
We took her to the hospital, where they dressed the wound for us.
Fortunetly, Isabella has been doing quite well and the wound does not appear to be as bad as we thought. Few... That was a relief.
However we still plan to take x-rays as soon as possible, just in case.
.....
The actually Nkhotakota Safari Lodge is quite nice with simple bungalows right on the beach. It is actually owned by the pottery place down the beach. We spent these next few days just relaxing and taking small walks on the beach. Juan enjoyed trying to fish with the help of a few locals.
