Trip End
Dec 10, 2007
It has been over two months since our trip and I just finished my blog today. I still need to upload photos, but feel good about finishing my entries. I'm really glad I journaled for the most part while on the trip because as time goes by you seem to forget some of the details.
Kenya held their presidential elections just 17 days after we returned home. There was a lot of "campaigning" that we witnessed while travelling through the villages and such. We seen many billboards and even spoke at length with our driver about their upcoming election. It leaves me with a very heavy heart, knowing the outcome of that election. Many Kenyans have died. Last I heard it was numbering around a thousand. I know many more have been seriously injured and affected by the violence. Even the Peace Corps have pulled their people out. It just isn't safe for anyone. Women and children are being raped and it saddens me. I really would like to find a way to lend my support. I hope that in the near future I will find a way to do just that. It is such a rich country in a lot of ways, but I think due to the 42 different tribes that there may not be a way bring them all together as a country. Michael told us that land is very expensive there, and their wages just aren't high enough. I will continue to pray for them and hope they can achieve some sort of assemblance of peace.
