And so, back to BA for the 4th and final time!

We took a choppy ferry back across the water and went back to our previous hostel, this time with Christmas tree...result! It was time for some christmas shopping so we headed to the Recoleta market where they sell lots of traditional artisan goods. It was a beautiful sunny day and they had live bands etc playing. We went to an old fashioned little parilla for lunch (steak obviously), it was delicious! Most of the parilla´s and cafe´s in BA remind me of Nardini´s...they have that sort of old school feel with traditional decor and old men as waiters.

On Sunday we headed back to trendy Palermo and hung out in the Botanical garden..it was super hot. It felt only right that our last meal in BA should be none other than....a steak!! hahaha, somehow I think the meat counter at Morrisons is going to be a little disappointing when we get home. We noticed that the main street in downtown BA, Avenida 9 Julio, was closed off and upon inspection realised they had turned it into a massive go-kart circuit. It was causing chaos in the rest of the city (bearing in mind this is the giant street of like 20 plus lanes and all the traffic had to be re-routed) but the go-karting was pretty cool. People all lined the streets and there were some spectacular crashes into hay bail barriers.

Today we go to get our flight home. At the last minute though, good old TAM airlines has changed not only the flight time, but the first destination. Instead of Rio, we are off to Sao Paulo. Oh well, as long as we get to London at some point!

We have been thinking about home alot the last week or so and are really forward to coming back now. I think we are lucky we feel that way and have lots to look forward to.....as well as seeing family and friends which will be the best...it is weird the things you miss and what you look forward to upon your return....e.g:

Looking forward to:
- a decent breakfast (at the Hazleton preferably!); a variety of foods (e.g Chinese, Indian, Thai...did we mention that there are basically no Asian people in Argentina? We didn´t see any Asian influence anywhere, not even Uncle Bens has made it here!); having a fridge to put fresh food into; cheesy beanos(GL); guiness (CL); having an abundance of clean clothes; being able to flush toilet paper (instead of having to put it in the unpleasant bins!); hot showers on demand; having our own room (our house for that matter...cheers Anne and Stuart!); not having to take 20 hour bus rides; being able to understand everyone and be understood in return; knowing where things are without needing guide book and map; having an income (anyone know of any jobs?GL); not being bitten by mosquitos; xmas movies!!

However....there are loads of things we will miss about South America and what has been an awesome trip.....e.g.

Will miss:
you guessed it.....large steaks!; Quilmes and Caprinihi´s; lomito completos; milanesa neopolitanas; sunshine, warmth and big blue skies; meeting new and interesting people all the time; having no schedule, responsibility or bills to pay; having no housework, chores or other mundane tasks to do; dulce de leche ice cream; mate (we´ve bought 2kg but it won´t last forever - CL thinking of starting up mate importing business!); not having to shave (CL); but most of all, we will miss the constant adventure and exploring...there is rarely a dull moment on the road...as such we have made a mental list of all the fun and interesting things we are going to do when we get back to (starting in January of course)....Christmas is for lazing about, eating, drinking and hanging out with our favourite people...see you soon!!!
