We headed back to Colonia for a few days before our ferry back to BA. The weather took a turn for the worse and rained and rained some more. I thought maybe it was a good thing, ease us back in slowly so it isnīt a complete shock when we go home to a Scottish winter. As a result, we drank ALOT of mate...not much else to do when it rains!

Our hostel had live music one night which certainly proved to be entertaining. This guy looked like he came straight from the movie 'Almost Famous'....he was a skinny guy wearing quite tight check flares and a fitted denim shirt and had looong dark hair. He played latino music on his acoustic guitar plugged into an amp. He was pretty amazing musician....fantastic voice and unbelievable on the guitar (not bad on the old eye too!) He made sounds on the guitar I had never heard before...then proceeded to use the box/stool he was sitting as a drum while also using castanets too. While unusual to our ear, I thought maybe this is traditional Uruguayan music. Then however, things got weirder.....he put down the instruments and picked up a broom  which had lots of black and white tape spiralled round it. Someone put on a track of a song and he started to do this sort of dancing/balancing circus type act to African music. hmmmmm it was pretty impressive but where the hell did that come from..random. I might try to find him on youtube!
