Stayed in a timeshare on the beachfront where we watched all the beachfront activity - a continual parade of surfers, joggers, cyclists, walkers and prime seafront camping. The locals take their campers (some as big as a pantechnicon!) and spend a weekend at the sea... Carlsbad itself is a pretty little town with well-manicured public gardens - a mass of brightly colored annuals. Strong Mexican influence in everything.
Stuart and his family took us to all the local spots of interest and sorted out our connectivity! Going to the Apple Store was an intriguing experience. Bought this I-pad there and was in aweStuart and Kerry Donovanof how things Trevor Donovanhappen Shannon Donovan

 
 there. No paper - everything was done through cell phones. My I-pad miraculously appeared and the cash payment was done via a concealed draw in one of the display tables... Lessons for adults and children take place in the shop and the place just hums. Receipts and instructions appear after the transaction via e-mail.
Had a wonderful trip to an elegant old hotel in Coronado/ San Diego. A beach wedding was in progress when we were there - just magical with little fires on the beach surrounded by beach chairs, the orchestra playing and the hotel staff rushing around. Wish we could afford to stay there!
Spent a lovely morning with Kerry and went to the farm where there are fields and fields of ranunculus all in rows of colors. Gorgeous ...Carlsbad ranuncula farm
