Hello!

A Happy Thanksgiving to you all.

I'm going to keep this message short because im running low on time before i have to make the mashed potatoes for the thanksgiving dinner im having with the other volunteers currently staying at the regional house in Tambacounda. My energy stores are waning because of the thanksgiving eve dance party we threw last night...and into the wee hours of this morning.

A quick update on my work..i purchased two rabbits to begin my rabbit raising project with my host family and named them Helene and Tony, after my parents back home. This amuses my senegalese family to no end, which is part of the reason i did it. They are very cute, and im hoping they start to pump out very cute babies soon so that my host mother can fatten them up and start selling..and cooking them for the family.

my garden is doing a little better. i transplanted over two hundred heads of lettuce before leaving town for thanksgiving and am keeping my fingers crossed that they remain alive until my return.

Thanksgiving has always been my favorite holiday; every year since i can remember it has been spent with immediate and extended family in the large kitchen of my parents old home. Today has been difficult because all those i care most deeply about are so far away, however it has also been a good reminder of how very important friends and family truly are. Thank you to all for your support..whether it be warm emails, packages, letters, prayers..it all means so much.
I may not have the heat from the old cast iron wood stove today..but the blazing sun and 100 degree weather have helped to distract me.
much love, and warm holiday wishes to all!
peace
Jenny
