October has zipped by. I can't believe how fast time flies. Tina, Sheryl and I had a nice sisterhood lunch a couple of weeks ago. Tammi couldn't make it and we missed Laura too, but it was fun nonetheless.
Miriam had a good time on Halloween. My home-made costume was a great success if I do say so myself. We went to the costume parade at Village Venture and she went trick or treating with Dalia, Meghan, and Rebecca. She got a fair amount of candy but said she wants to go trick or treating with Walter next year!
October 31st was also the Mask Parade at Sycamore. Instead of a costume parade the kids all pick a theme related to what they're currently studying and made masks in class. They also make up a song. Each class then gets to present their theme and parade around the courtyard wearing their masks. I attended long enough to see Miriam's class and it was pretty cool. Miriam and her friend Emerson presented for her class along with another girl. I've posted a video I took of Miriam's class doing their parade. It might be a bit big to view but you can give it a try!
I just got back from a long weekend at 29 Palms Inn. I had a fabulous time and didn't want to come home. The weather was perfect.
I hiked to 49 Palms Oasis one day and explored some of the trails at the Greater Morongo Valley Nature Reserve on the way home. Also slept a lot, read a lot, and ate way too much. I'm already planning my next trip!
