What I did
Carnac standing stones

A day trip heading due south today. Started our visit at the waterfront for a picnic lunch and I learnt an important phrase at the cafe there: "Avez vous café à en portay?" (don't know how to spell it really, just how to say it!)

Then straight to see the Menhirs and Dolmens, standing stones, of Carnac. There are two main groups of stone alignments at Carnac, which are known as the Menec and Kermario alignments. The alignments are 12 converging rows of menhirs stretching more than a kilometre with the remains of a stone circle at either end. The largest stones are around 4m high.
They are thought to pre-date stonehenge by around 100 years, some may date to as old as 4500 BC. They're a mysterious collection of rocks and the orientation of the alignments target the sunsets at both solstices.

The traditional fare of Carnac is crêpes, and we tried both sweet and savoury crêpes-the latter called Galettes.
