......12th July..........
..... so my first day of proper coaching in America went really well absolutely loved it because i had gr8 co- coaches which we all just bounced off each other to get the kids up and ready for sport all day!!!.. my day group was an awesome group.............. TEAM LIAM for the win because we were winning the competitions of who can scream loudest and be most enthusiastic .......... :D we did alot of sports in the first day off the curriculum!!....... all my group was within the age range of 6-9 and i couldnt ask for a nicer group......
.........so my evenin cap was squirts.... at first i found this group slightly wierd to coach because they are soo young and basically u have to jus be a bubbly person who can run round and keep their concentration....... i didnt think i was good at this until i looked across and saw i had alot of control over my group and they were doing everything i asked of them.... where as the other group jus acted like lil pains and kept running off, throwing cones and jus totaly not listening o the coach.......... this made me happy knowing ive got a gd group for the week to coach :D!!!!..... my age range for this was 3-5....... which again i had a good group :D..........
......13th July..........
......today on camp we had the theme of "CRAZY HAIR DAY" which was awesome because we had kids turn up with green hair, a million hair bobbles in, green lighting bolts on the side of their head, crazy hats, one guy even had 7 hats on with a sombrero ( Mexican hat, however it spelt lol) on top..... obviously he didnt wear them whilst playing sport, but jus for the judging hahah..... but sum of the other kids put alot of effort in.... dnt think you would get nything like that back home............
......... nyway the second day went realy well again no problems....... but at the end of the session, the heavens opened and it absolutely poured it dwn with rain and we had thunder and lightning ..... i loved it but after thought it was pretty dangerous being out in middle of a field drenched with thunder n lightning hitting around lol but o well.... was gr8!! :)
......... with all the rain after our morning session we thought our evening squirts would be cancelled but our boss said no and told us we would be ok.... asif like magic 10 min before the session it totally cleared up for another good session but not many kids turned up to this session because of the weather.... and at 5:31pm jus as the session finished the heavens opened again..... its asif our boss is controlling the weather because weneva we asked him he gets the weather prediction perfect... grrrrrrrrrrrrr lol
......14th July.......
.... we woke up and the storm had begun again so we arrived at camp but the field was water logged and we said it was unsafe so cancelled camp and we got the day off but by evening all had cleared up so we still did our squirts sessions but because of not being tired out from our day session, this one went really well and had a good hockey session with the squirts :D!!!!!!!.....
........ 15th July .......
.... so after the welcomed rest on wednesday we had camp again, todays theme was "WACKY THURSDAY", was supose t b wednesday bt obviously we couldnt,..... this was very funny because we had people turn up with silly hair, cloths on inside out and back to front, pants on their head (clean pants), pants over their trousers etc..... we had lots of laughs this day haha...... this day didnt run as smooth as i liked because i had i had to do the sport of lacrosse which is a gr8 sport but all my kids keep getiing injured by checking each other and smacking the sticks onto each and others fingers... but to make it worse my boss came to visit the camp so wasnt the best timing for people to begin complaing of swollen/ broken fingers hahah..... plus in ultimate frisbee i had another kid get kneed in the ribs so he wasnt in a gd shape at all......... all this stuuf goin on made me change all the rules of the game and also my coaching style because too many people were getiing injured and i didnt want to get sacked lol............. this set me on a downer abit but i still had my squirts to coach so i needed to snap out of it quick............
........so my squirts session came around and i managed to snap out of my silly mood so i could coach my little kiddies their sport...... but my mood was shortlived because i started to lose patience with them because they were all in a crazyyyyyy mooddd.... i think it was because of the intense heat..... but they jus wouldnt listen to anything i told them, i was tryin to coach basketball but they jus wanted to boot the ball in the air and run up to the hoop and smash the ball against it!! then run off............ but they do this whilst parents are watching us coach.. so ive got the added pressure of making sure it looks like i have control over the group.......... but i managed to jus cope with my session and finally finished but all this stress made us 3 coaches fancy a beer so we went straight to the harbour bar were one of the parents recomended to us then he invited us to a pub.....
............we did not refuse his offer so we went home and change into our casual gear and headed straight for the pub.... but it took us 2 hours to do a 20 min journey because of stupid roadworks on the interstate.... but we made it and met up with the parent but i was designated driver so i wasnt drinking but still was out for a gd time :) after the party we ended up goin back to the parents house and having pizza bagels, which are EPIC!!! and afew drinks before we realised that we up early again for last day of camp but we didnt care.... we had a good time............
....... 16th July .......
..... so the final day of camp has arrived , it was draw a picutre of coach day , we got sum gr8 pics and this is the best day as it is just full of competitions in the sports to see which team can be the champions and choose which coach they want to DUNKKKK!! (pour a bucket of water over lol) so after the sports we had waterday... because we cant call it water fight lol hahha this was great because all kids jus chased coaches around because they wanted revenge after all sports we had made them do hahah..... but once they had finished all the competitions they young kids choose coach han to dunk... but the older kids decided me and kwame should get dunk for beign so cocky about han geting dunk earlier in the day..... but i didnt care as it was sooooo hot , it was a welcomed relief.............. once we had finished it was time to say all our goodbye but some kids started to bring us gifts like cookies, cherry, we got a $20 dollar tip each and i got given a $5 gift card for a bakery.... it was gr8 and made my week worth while....
.... my final squirts session also went gr8 but no tips or owt from those parents but its rare to get ny tips or nything so we were very lucky with our group!!!! :)..........
...... MY FIRST WEEK OF CAMP DONE...... SO NOW TIME FOR THE BIG APPLE.......... but first the steak house :) mmmm it was lovely........
