I can't remember where I left off, but I am now back home
and realize I did a bad job of blogging.
Maybe the fact that it truly was a restful one instead of one where
we're running from one activity to the other.

For both Paul and I it was nice to have a few things on our
calendars while not being slaves to our itinerary (read sleeping late, taking
naps, staying up late). I know
that the first few days I slept till about 9am (if I hadn't committed myself to
a few things I think I could have done that the whole vacation!).

The highlight of our Boston portion of the trip was spending
time with friends. I took a couple
of colleagues to "high tea" at the Four Seasons one day. We had a lovely time. My Jasmine tea was the best I've ever
had. And the munchies, though not
your wings and blue cheese dip, were most delicious (can you see my pinkie
sticking out?). We laughed and
shared nice memories of the year
and our work. We also met one of
my favorite collegues who has been my mentor, my boss, my hero for breakfast
one morning. She and her boyfriend
will visit us in October during the balloon fiesta. And then on Thursday evening our dear buddies Lynn and Gerry
joined us for dinner at Sorellina's.
Wow, what a place! The food
was delicious! Paul ordered
lobster-I hadn't before or since tasted lobster like that one!!! And I had a Kobe beef meatball dish
with pasta. But I think I've
already spoken about these. I
think we permanently blew out a few taste buds on that meal!

The next morning we visited a couple of museums which capped
our visit to Boston.

Next we moved up the coast into Maine. The weather continued to cooperate...the
pine tree state welcomed us with sunny, azure skies; cool breezes which skimmed
the finest of sea salt off foamy waves and an army of tulips sporting the
colors of a neon-bright Mexican serape.
Our first night we spent at a bed and breakfast in Portlant, but it
paled in comparison to the bed and breakfast in Camden. Our "little" suite had the feel of a
French country cottage with it's Van Gogh-yellow splashed walls and the bedroom
in the loft.

We hiked up a small hill overlooking the town of
Camden. It was about a 3 or 4 mile
hike that made us less guilty about our very fine dinner at Natalie's that
evening. My sister-in-law, Becky,
asked if we did anything other than eat.
I paused....and responded....no, very little, actually!

We are home now and it is amazing how much has changed since
we left. The trees are now
sporting brand new, baby leaves; the lilacs are blooming wildly and the air
carries about their fragrance like the sounds of a party in the distance. All blooming things engage in a dance
created by the strong winds that buffet Taos every spring. And we, well, we just shed our winter
clothes one layer at a time. Ah,
home sweet, home!
