Based on some guide book descriptions that sounded interesting, we decided to stop in Todi. The drive from Civitella D'Agliano is terrific. Very scenic. Fields of sunflowers broken up by the occasional house hugging tight curve in the road. Arriving at Todi we parked in a municipal lot [0.80 euro] right next to a lift up into the town center [at least, near the center]. Nice and convenient arrangement. There's a cafe across the street from where the lift leaves you. Gelato was good, but the counter man was a bit surly. Todi has a number of great views from every angle. We seemed to catch the town during the lunch break, so things were quiet. Snapped one good shot of the countryside and headed back to make an appointment for wine tasting at Azienda Agricola Antonelli San Marco. Our guide was very nice, and it was interesting to stop at one of the less tourist-oriented winemakers. We were the only people on the ground other than a couple of employees. So we were able to see everything from the cellars to the bottling line, where they were cleaning and labeling some of their reds that were ready for distribution. Antonelli wasn't the kind of mythical charming place like you imagine or see in corny movies, but it was a friendly, straightforward kind of small family business that obviously took pride in their work and products.
