Well, at last Simon managed to escape the Blue Andaman in Ko Lanta...I stopped there for one night and ended up staying for 8 or 9.  Stayed in 4 different rooms tho so felt like I was moving all the time.  It was a cool little place but very eay to get bogged down.  The sound shack bar was just too easy to settle into each night.  Met some really cool people, too many to mention really, but you know its time to leave when people start taking pictures of you cause you are a Blue Anadaman legend!!  The final straw was the disappearance of my flip flops from the bar yesterday morning.  When Grant and Alex said they were about to get on a boat to Phi Phi in 20 minutes I stuffed everything in my bag and ran for it.

My favourite room was C6 where rats ran around inisde the mattress during the night and even managed to chew my Ipod cable in half...needless to say I didn't stay there more than one night.  It became a bit of a running joke working out which character that had just arrived had the good fortune of booking into C6!!

Did at least manage to acheive my PADI certificate while in Lanta so I didn't totally lose 8 days of my life.  The diving was cool.  Had a really good instructor (Rohan) and as no one else had turned up that day had one on one instruction so we'd pretty much finished by day 2 and coule chill opn day 3 just looking at fish etc.  It really is a bizarre experience feeling weightless once you have the hang of it.  You can sort of hover in mid water by just beathing in different amounts of air to control bouancy.  The visibility wasn't that great as the weather has been a bit crap recently but we did see lots of cool little finding nemo type fish and leopard and black tipped sharks.  I even had to buy the lanta diving t shirt.  All of the dive instructors were english or swedish really (Ko Lanta is like a Swedish colony...it even has 3 Swedish schools!!), they can't get working visas so it was quite funny when the police stopped us on our way out to sea one morning and all the instructors ripped off their Lanta Diving t-shirts and prentended they didn't work there.  Anyway all the correct bribes appeared to have been paid and we were OK, Rohan had even taught some of the police to dive!!

There isn't that much to Ko Lanta really, just a long strip where you have to run up and down on motor bikes so you sort of end up confined to barracks most evenings.  Did go to some funky caves with Alecia and Sally which was fun, the little Thai guy just takes you down with head torches.  We went for a swim in a lake in the cave.

So now on Phi Phi trying to work out how to stay here longer but have to do a visa run to Malaysia before the 23rd!!
