Well it was time to start moving south to make sure I am acclimatised fully before the gang get here in two weeks.  Decided I'd had enough of both Kanchaburi and Bangkok so went for the full frontal assault of getting to Krabi in one hit.  This involved getting the 9am bone shaker bus out of Sankaburi; 5 hours later got to Kanchaburi , quickly grabbed some lunch and jumped on the bus to Bangkok southern bus terminal.  Got myself booked onto the 8pm Krabi bus (the buses only go late at night or at 7am in the morning).  Had a bit of an issue as my seat had been double booked (there were only 2 seats left by the time I tried to book mine) but in the end the other chappy got chucked out and I got one of the best seats on the bus, downstairs right at the front where I could stretch my legs right out.

The buses are ace, you get water, a little packed lunch thing and a lunch voucher you can use during the 10 minute stop at the services (which they wake you up for at 1am just after you've fallen asleep!).  All in all had a good nights sleep, arrived here at 7.30am.  Had got talking to a nice young gap year student at the services who was on my bus and she had sussed out and booked herself a nice hotel so I just tagged along with her and have a top room, a bit pricey at 6 quid but hell I'm on holiday eh!!

Krabi is Crapi to be honest.  Fuck all to do here except fend off taxi and boat drivers trying to take you places.  There are plenty of beaches and stuff you can get boats to but not really the thing to do the day you arrive in a new gaff.   It looks like it could be lively at night but being off the booze that doesn't appeal too much.  So reckon I will shoot to Ko Lanta tomorrow and suss out the diving and stuff.

Oh, and it rained 3 drops today.
