I was awake and hangover free despite a live mike night the evening before. Whilst in Goa I've been enjoying Kings blonde beer which is about 50 UK pence per bottle and I can have a good night out and food for the equivalent of a 5 pond newt. I  guess the waiter thought I was blinding drunk judging by the short change but clearly he didn't allow for my capacity of foreign lager. A few good real ales out here would soon have them dancing on the tables!

Anyway, the Impulse was fired up just before 8 and I started to pull out of Arambol but stopped briefly to say a quick hello to an American lady I recognised from back in lovely Varkala. I politely declined a breakfast invite as I was kitted up and wanting to make tracks. It was a cool misty morning and I wanted to make the most of some cooler riding. The early morning mist cleared rapidly once I'd cleaned my sunglasses (!) and I settled into 40 kms of quiet coastal riding before popping out on NH17.

I thought that would be the end of the nice riding but couldn't have been more wrong. The road yesterday was the best I have EVER ridden in India and it was so good I could've turned around and done it all over again. Not too much traffic, great road surface and stunning views and scenery.  I would happily of ridden a Fireblade on this route as it was that good. Having not been used to bendy twisty up and down roads for quite some time my bend assessment was initially lacking but soon returned as did my massive grin that only riding a bike through some twisties can provide.

I enjoyed some fab roadside views and took lots of photos - it was so unlike the India I have travelled in over the years.

Whilst sat taking a photo three Enfield bikes thundered past clearly being ridden by foreigners. They all were riding briskly so it was a pleasure to catch them up and be the tail of the snake as we pushed through the bends. Once stopped we all introduced ourselves and had a quick chat.

They told me about a route they'd ridden to Pune and said it was fab so that was my route planned.

I stopped at the town they suggested intent on heading across country towards Pune today. The riding yesterday was one of the best biking days of my life and given how far and wide I've ridden over the years that really says something. I'd covered 410kms and smiled the entire day - perfect!

I was back on the bike by 8.30 this morning and rode the 100 or so kms to Pune on an unclassified back road. The scenery and view of the Lake was as described - stunningly beautiful - so I offer my thanks to the French motorcyclists I met yesterday. Whilst riding I saw a mongoose run out in front of me and saw my first ever large wild langur swinging in the trees.

On entering Pune I saw a subway so stopped and had a veggie delite and some much needed salad. Pune was very clean and tidy but reminded me of Vegas. It just appeared out of the landscape and took ages to leave! Unlike Vegas though I did take a photo or two and would've stayed longer if it wasn't for the fact it was early afternoon and I was enjoying the riding.

There must also be an air force base there as I felt like Tom Cruise in Top Gun at one point as fighter jets flew overhead and alongside. Actually,  I'm much taller than Tom, don't have unnaturally white teeth nor am involved in some bizarre religious cult. Also, come to think of it the mighty Impulse doesn't look like a 900R either but apart from all that, it was very similar.

So, im now happily entrenched in the hotel loveliness and will hopefully make full use of their BATH in a short while. Yes, a BATH, in all its white plastic loveliness.

My stinky self will plunge in shortly. The hotel has hot water, cold beer and they've even given me a small pot of bubble bath and a towel.

Ipod speaker at the ready, beer in hand and I'm good to go.

I will attempt a photo upload later if I don't fall asleep.

Health continuing to improve so all good.
