The day didn't start exactly as planned due to a late ish night (computer/Skype stuff) so my 07.00 alarm clock got reset and I woke just after 9. A nice cool room and a snuggly duvet had this adventurer well and truly tucked up in comfy loveliness. As with all good things though it had to end so after coffee and a masala omelette the bike was loaded up and off we set.
The plan was to head to the coast but good old Google maps (accessed on Internet at the hotel) confirmed my thoughts. The coastal route isn't quite the same as lovely old PCH1 but is a case of ride to the sea - along a bit - back to main road - along a bit - back to coast - etc etc etc
Having been doing this in a follow my nose type way since Kolkata I thought I'd take one last look at the sea before heading towards Chennai.
The route to the seaside was fun, the beach was nice and the sea warm - who could ask for more.
After a few photos and some time watching the waves I headed back to the main road and headed south once more.
Today has been a relaxing ride and I found a top dhaba and had roadside snacks and tea before riding on. I eventually made it (actually I have no idea which town it's in) the hotel Kinerra and whilst making up my mind to either carry on riding for another hour or stop, I was approached by a lad from the hotel.
He was a great salesman and even said he'd pop out and get me a couple of cold beers if I stayed.
The room looked great and before you could say 'kingfisher light please' I was booked in, showered and sat eagerly anticipating that cold beer sensation.
This blog thingy clearly owes a lot of its humour (?) to my pleasureable quest to remain fully hydrated at all times.
The plan from here on is to try and revisit the Coast North of Chennai before searching out croissant and coffee in a few days.
The exciting news today though is that I saw my first sign for Kannyakumari - but I won't be taking the direct route - imagine that!
