Ohhhh i still love them so much!
We stayed at an "eco-lodge" in the jungle next to the Nam Kan river, we had mosquito nets that made the beds look like fairy tale princess beds (you know like in arabian nights!!).
We got a "mahout" uniform which was the 'distressed' denim look - so sexy!!! We rode the elephants the first morning on the bench and Simon went onto the elpehnats neck for a bit, we then learnt how to command the elephants verbally in 'Lao' - although we figured by the end - its all in the kicking the ears!!! (Not jumping up and down on the elephants neck like i did!!).
They mostly used female elephants to carry the tourists and you almost feel like you are going to topple arse over tit over its head, particularly when you go down hill!
We then had lunch and then we took the elephants for a bath........ So fantastic! The water is freezing and the elephants are so accurate with their squirting!!! It is probably the only time i have ever wished for a bit of sunshine!! - it was a little chilly when coming out of the water - it is the only time on the whole trip that has been pleasantly cool!!
We then went tubing down the river (basically - river, us sat in a rubber tube). We met a girl who was from New York (!!!!!! - called Kim!!!!!) but was not as lush as our Melinda........!:)
We then changed and had some free time (eg - slept!) then down for dinner!!
The following day we got up at 630am to bathe the elephants (which again was ace), then we had breakfast and did a 3 hour elephant ride on their necks..... i had a very large male elephant (who weighed 4 tonnes!!!) and boy did i know it after 3 hours- i felt like it!!!
My goodness - i didnt realise what HUGE schlongs they have!!!!!!
Apparently, elephants find mates like humans and although there are females on the island -the male wont mate with them cos it isnt true love!!! Awww!!
Basically we paid money to love the elephants up close and personal for 3 days...... It was perfect!
We bathed the elephants a total of 5 times!!!!
We took lush photos and so pleased we went.
