Greetings from Phu Quoc (an island off Vietnam), it is the loveliest place we have been so far (beach wise)..... it is stunning,like Thailand used to be. We are staying in a beach hut, 10m from the sand for $12 a night (3 people) - its is sweet!!
We have loved it, was a pain in the arse to get here but the pain was forgotten once we saw the beach!
We had to get a bus from Saigon to Rach Gia (the port) and were pushed into a minibus which was full, our backpacks are so enormous they are like another passenger, no room for bags so we hadto put underneath our feet..... our knees were practically in our ears - for 5 hours:(
We arrived at 4am and booked our ferry ticket, but the ferry didnt leave til 8am so we sat on a street vendor stall with some vietnamese people who helped us buy tickets , we watched the sunrise which was beautiful and then at 5am - loud speakers on the street made all the vietnamese take exercise at 5am!!! It was hilarious!!
The ferry was good and me and Nicky stood on the deck whilst Simon slept -we arrived at 1030am and then went to find some accomodation. We took a cab to Long beach and found this awesome bungalow for the three of us. We can hear the waves crashing on the beach - brilliant!
We hired motorbikes to see the rest of the island...... which was great and really liberating!!
We found a stunning beach called Bao Sai beach with white,powdery sand:)
We are in heaven -its official!!!!
Hope all is well- we are leaving for Cambodia tomorrow so should be good,going to another seaside town called Sihanoukville.
