Went for a walk out to the west of town along a dirt track. The tide was up so we couldn't get out as far as we would have liked - the water was up over the track. The wind wasn't too bad so it was quite a nice walk.
We had arranged with Mick to try fishing again out off the jetty so after a break we all headed out to try our luck. Mick managed to pull in 6 squid using a jig which was great. Greg was using some white bait on the line but didn't manage to get anything of size. The crabs were also proving elusive.
In the evening we got together with Mick and Chelle (Michelle) - the park managers and Kev and Merle for a feed. The latter had brought some red claw (yabbies) with them which they had done in garlic butter and teryaki sauce and we had Mick's squid and we had bought some fish (Snook) and we cooked up the whole lot on the barby and it was a great feed.
Greg pulled out the guitar later on and Chelle also got her 12 string guitar out. She hadn't played for some time so it was good for her to have a sing. She had a few songs that she had written which were really good. One song was about her brother who had died quite young - he had spent quite a bit of time fishing for prawns up in the gulf and had called in to Groote Eylandt.
As it turned out Chelle was a niece of Ted Egan and they had a story about visiting Ted when he was the N.T. Administrator up in Darwin. It was a great night and we felt that we had made some more good friends.
