After breakfast we filled up with fuel - around $1.47 per litre and headed south. The landscape around the Curry reminded us again of the Pilbara i.e. hilly with spinifex. It doesn't take long until the scenery flattens out and becomes rather nondescript.

We had a rather embarrassing experience on the way to Winton. As we were driving down the highway we came up to a van that was parked part on the road and given that there was room to pull off we thought they must have had a problem e.g. blown tyre. There was no one following so we slowed right down and Jan wound down the window to see if they needed help but as it turned out the lady was just having a pee. So Jan caught a really nice (not) view of the proceedings and we quickly accelerated away - that's what you get for doing a good deed.

Anyway we kept dodging the couple in question for the rest of the day in Winton.

At Winton we went for a walk up to truck and machinery exhibit which was just up the road. After that we walked around town for a few hours and in the evening we headed back up town for the last screening for the year of the outdoor theatre which was a bit like the experience at Broome. They showed old adds from years gone by (Holden FJ for 800 pounds - that sort of things). They also had a sample of old films - Popeye cartoons and various other bits and pieces. they also put on a cuppa and a viewing of their collection of memorabilia. It was actually quite entertaining.

A strong wind was blowing all day and it didn't let up. At 2am in the morning we went out and pulled the awning down before it blew away.
