Where I stayed
So i was unable to get Peso before i arrived in Chile so Charlie gave me a map and directions to a Redbanco (cashpoint) but i was unable to find it, so i asked a few people and one lady tried really hard to explain using her arms as directions. Off i went up the street only to have this lady calling me to tell me that i needed to go down to the underground subway, then she left me again and when i got there both were out of order.
So on my way back to the hostal with no money and they don't accept Dollars here i decided to get some alcohol and food on my visa card and alas there was a cashpoint
That night Charlie cooked us all Spagetti Bolognaise for free and in the morning he cooked us all pancakes.
The next day i went walk abouts around the city and tried to get sim card for my phone. I must have gone in 20shops and no one spoke English but were all happy to direct me to somewhere else, very helpful lot if only i could speak the lingo! I did find a shop but the sim wouldn't work in my phone.
I visit some more sights, a holy hill and botanical gardens and as i came out onto the street it felt like someone was following me, he was too close for comfort and i didn't know what to do so i just made sure i had a frim hold of my bag. All off a sudden he grabbed at my strap and i put my hands across my chest holding my bag for dear life. I had my bum belt on with most of my cash and cards but in my bag was my new camera and he wasn't getting that without a fight! He then shoved his hand in my face and i screamed then he was gone, about 2mins later i realised he had stolen my gold necklace from my neck that i loved, but at least he didnīt have a knife! I continued to enjoy my day. I am now in Vina Del Mar and loving the sunshine and beaches. Off to Valparaisio tomorrow to explore for a few days then i fly to Rio De Janeiro where i will always be on my guard. The funny thing here is they have police patrolling the buses at night so that no one jumps the que to get the bus as the que's are really long! They also have tout's who ride the buses with the driver and try to get people on the bus at each set of lights. The taxi's also pick up lots of different people like car pooling and drop then off a different places. I'm sticking with the Metro and good old walking. Till next time JO.x
