Today's the day we'll be crossing the Polarsirkel (there, sneaked in a bit of Norwegian!) at 66deg33minsN. It's 08:35 am and we're currently at 66.02N. We're heading on a course of 036 degrees at a speed of 16 knots. If speed and course are maintained we should reach that imaginary point at about 11.30am. Inexplainable why it's so exciting crossing an imaginary point, but it is! I took a photo for you at 10.30, so an hr to go.
So far we've travelled 1128 nautical miles (naut mile=1.1 mile). The depth of the sea at this point is 300m. Sadly it's another cloudy day but the sea's like a millpond. The sun's obviously lower in the sky today and as we travel towards northern Norway the quality of the daylight will fade and will reduce to about 4 hours a day by the time we reach Alta.
