As we drove down, we stopped at Colonel Allensworth State Historic Park in Earlimart. The park wasn't very big since it looks somewhat like a mini-town. It is pretty much a collection of lovingly restored early 20th century buildings of the Colonel's house, the historic schoolhouse, baptist church, library, and small general stores. There's not a whole lot of trees to add some landscape to it. It's all flat ground and dry looking considering the drought we've been having lately. This made for a nice stop to stretch our legs out before continuing with the trip.
