Arrived at Kendal in the Lakes District
A great drive from Ayr. We stopped off at Gretna Green to do some shopping. It has factory outlets - don't tell my wife.
Took a minor road and passed the Ullswater - it is a lake. Went through Kirskstone Pass - magnificient scenery - sorry no photos - my driver was keen to continue on.
Went through Windemere - all the names mean something to me in this place.
Have a look at this website. Kendal The map is interactive.
Kendal is another quaint little town. Heaps of arty stuff - theatres, museums, etc. Also has a chocolate shop.
Had dinner at a pub - Indian food. They also had the Full Moon Beer Fetsival on. I tried a Black Chalice and a Wychwood Hobglobin. Cheap as chips mate. Not good for the local economy though because it is a large hotel chain. (Beware this takes a while to download.) Beer Some great names.
B&B was good and close to town. Hillside
