Doha is built around a bay that has been turned into a harbour. The road running around the bay is called Al Corniche. ( We would call it an Esplanade in Austalia). It is about 7 kms long and has six lanes with a speed limit of 80 kph. Many families and people come to walk along the shoreline or play in the many parks on both sides of the road.
The road has a line of date palms down the centre with many unique round-abouts. I have been told that the grass is imported from Australia. It needs to be watered 4 times per day in summer to keep it alive.
Temperatures are consistently above 40 degrees from May and do reach 50 degrees in August - I can't wait. Qatar doesn't have any dams - the water comes from a de-salination plant. The average annual rainfall is less than 3 cm - some years there is no rain.
The photos will speak for themselves. [Each photo is about 220K in the larger image - don't blow your download limit if you have one]
