After getting directions to Maine, from the nice gals in the Quebec welcome center, we set out to Montreal. By the time we got to Montreal, we hadn't seen a single sign in English and we didn't really have any idea what to do there anyway, so we decided to drive on through to 'Amurica.' We did have an interesting traffic jam East of Montreal, in which we rolled down the windows, cranked up the Beach Boys, and had fun waving, singing, and generally acting silly. We have had so much road construction delays so far, we have learned to accept them and are even planning a music video about road work. The border crossing was again uneventful, a happy guy looked at our passports, asked if we had anything to declare, and sent us on our way. The Vermont welcome center had wifi, so we stopped to upload some pictures, get a map, and turn our cellphones back on (they were off for the duration of our foray into Canada). We called Dad to confirm that we were still alive, after finding both email and voicemail from him and grandma to wish her a happy birthday. From there, we made as good time as we could East on highway 2 through Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine as the darkness deepened and the fog thickened. Finding no rest stops, we slept in a Lowe's parking lot in Bangor/Brewer, Maine.
