What I did
Had the most amazing Thai dinner
27th to 30th March.....
I flew from Kuching to Kuala Lumpur - changed planes - flew to Bangkok and got a taxi into the city to my boutique hotel - what a wonderful place. It is owned by Jacques (he is French) and his friend - they made me very welcome and the hotel is situated in a really good area - near a beautiful park (Lumpini Park). There was a restaurant in the hotel serving French cuisine - it was excellent. Breakfast was also wonderful - really good food. My room was spacious and very stylish - highly recommend it.
After I had checked in, I had a wander around the local area - a really good part of the city - it was near the Goethe Institute, Sathon, Bangkok. I could walk to the metro and go into all the famous shopping malls. I spent some time there checking out phones, DVD's and silk items.
I also had a check-up in Bangkok International hospital - which has "state of the art" equipment. The service there was equal to a 5* hotel. I was most fortunate to be introduced to the Head of the hospital by a friend in Florida. On the evening I was there he took me out to dinner with some of his family members - we went to Face restaurant - this is probably the top Thai restaurant in Bangkok and the food was out of the world. See the pictures - Thai food in the UK takes on a whole new meaning after that!!
I also spent quite a few hours in the Chinese district of Bangkok - this is a really interesting place to visit.
When I was leaving Bangkok, my friend also arranged for me to be picked up by chauffeur at my hotel and taken to the airport - that's hospitality for you - a true gentleman of the past era.
