Mui Ne was white sand and gorgeous beaches. At our resort, the Sailing Club, we seemed to have 9 staff attend to each of us, all the time, it not being very busy. We began our beach time thinking the following:

- Which beach chair do we sit on?
- How often do we swim?  Ocean or pool?
- Would all of our needs be attended to?
- How often do we apply sunscreen?
- When should we eat?
- What day is it?

Very quickly our busy routines changed to kites, waves, and long walks on the beach. The waves were so high, they would toss and tumble you as a piece of driftwood, planting you face first in the sand if you weren't careful. Sidney learned that ill-fitting bathing attire would have to be secured prior to such activity to avoid accidental exposure. In the afternoons, the sky filled with kite-boarders - it was beautiful to watch thousands of colourful kites float in the sky. As if the above was not restful enough, they played a constant relaxing meditative yoga-style music (if you know the buddha-bar cd's) to further induce a coma-state.

Last Wednesday, we chose to spend a day doing something spiritually significant in honour of Ingrid's dear friend Catherine who died suddenly in a plane crash off Saturna Island just prior to our departure. It felt fitting to visit the largest lying Buddha in South East Asia. The Buddhist statue "Buddha joins into Nirvana", or "The Lying Buddha", 49 meters long, was sculptured in 1962 on Ta Cu Mountain, 30 km to the South-West of Phan Thiet City, outside of Mui Ne.

Back at the Resort, we watched the beautiful sunrises every morning at 5:30am, and ended our gorgeous stay with 75 minute massages.

All in all, we were spoiled in Mui Ne. We lost track of time, ourselves, and really decompressed into our honeymoon adventure. We were later to realize that we had relaxed a bit too much for what was to come....
